Athletes of the Month

Each month MD recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate team work, drive,
determination & outstanding contribution to Mustangs Athletics.

Congratulations to January Athletes of the Month!

Ian Wilson (Sr Boys Basketball)

Congratulations to Ian Wilson for winning January’s Athlete of the Month. Ian is a leader on the Sr Boys Basketball team; in the past 3 games he has accumulated 25 rebounds, 3 blocks and a has shot 80% from the free throw line. Congratulations Ian and thank you for your contribution to mustang basketball throughout your time at MD.

Matt Oliver (Jr Boys Basketball)

As one of our co-captains this year Matt has been a true leader on and off the court. He has been a leading scorer for our team in many games and has shown great heart throughout our season. His commitment to the sport and his drive to succeed is admired by his teammates and coaching staff. We look forward to watching Matt as we enter the playoffs this season.

Jackson Doney  (Boy’s Varsity Hockey)

Stepping in for a 5th year starter, Jackson has taken the reins and backstopped the MD hockey team to points in 3 of the last 4 games.  Jackson was a standout in the teams 2-1 victory over Iroquois Ridge, making 34 saves to earn the win. The boys have developed great confidence in him and that has inspired better play in the team overall.  Looking forward to his continued great play down the stretch.

Jacki Szabo (Swimming)

Jackie has exhibited strong leadership as a senior member of the swim team. She helps out with younger swimmers by showing/ critiquing technique and offering strategies to improve. She has been helpful in organizing the senior girls relay teams. She displays a positive attitude during practices and at meets.

Hana Felts (Jr Girls Volleyball)

Hana's love of sports has driven her to play Jr. Girls volleyball for MDHS. Hana also plays basketball for an external team and is, of course, just as much of a leader on her basketball team as she is for the Jr. Girls volleyball team. Hana leads by example as she has never missed a game or practice, and is completely committed to improving her game. As coaches, it did not take long for us to determine that she has the intelligence, athleticism, and character to be a great volleyball player. What is very impressive is she can perform at a very high level with an unwavering smile. It is no surprise that those character traits carry over into every part of her life; making her a promising and inspiring young athlete to be around in any environment.
