Summer School

Each July, some secondary schools are designated sites for Summer School courses for students who wish to earn new credits or upgrade previous courses.  Student may register for ONE full-credit course OR up to two upgrade courses with the HDSB (including online courses).

Full credit courses are four weeks in duration (110 hours of instruction) generally commencing the first Tuesday after the July 1st holiday weekend.  These courses are appropriate for new credit and/or for students who require additional learning and/or support to meet provincial standards.

Upgrade courses are two weeks in duration (55 hours of instruction) and are offered in two July sessions.  Upgrade courses require a minimum of 40% in a previous attempt and focus on key learning and essential skills rather than complete course content.

The HDSB does not offer Grade 12 upgrade courses.
