  • Students further examine the Canadian health care system as it compares to other systems around the world and the human body is studied in more depth through topics that include:

    • Legislation: RHPA
    • Medical ethics
    • Conventional, complementary, and alternative medicine
    • The Chain of Infection, infectious diseases, and personal protective equipment
    • (PPE)
    • Medical terminology/abbreviations
    • Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophysiology:
      • Integumentary System
      • Skeletal System
      • Muscular System
      • Nervous System
      • Cardiovascular System
      • Respiratory System
      • Digestive System
      • Lymphatic System
  • Students learn various health care skills that include:
    • Patient assessment/communication techniques
    • Electrocardiogram
    • Auscultation
    • Neurological Assessment
    • Cardiac Assessment
    • Vital Signs
    • Medical documentation (Ambulance Call Report)
    • Donning/doffing PPE
    • Patient positioning/transferring
    • Range of Motion Exercises
    • Dissection: chicken foot
