Bonjour et Bienvenue au Programme du Français Langue Seconde

The French Program offers Core and Immersion, in Grades 9 to 12. There is an emphasis on both oral and written competencies through the study of literature, film and culture. For our Immersion students, in addition to the French language courses, we offer a broad range of subjects such as dramatic arts and social sciences.  New this year we will be introducing Food and Nutrition in grade 10.

We also organize a yearly French Night at our school where students have the opportunity to showcase all of the wonderful work they do and to highlight things learned in French classes throughout the school year (currently postponed due to health protocols in place for the COVID-19 pandemic).

French as a Second Language Initiatives For Core French & French Immersion

The program follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by focusing on action-oriented tasks in a variety of authentic situations. Our instruction centres on communication in French with a balance of Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing Activities, making our learning activities highly interactive for students while emphasizing on the importance of learner autonomy and transferable skills (Transforming FSL).
