Memories from the 1970's

The 1970's saw many of our sports teams reach Championships!  In 1975, Mr. Hunter retired as Principal after 15 years at MD.   The Cross Country team boasted many finalists at many meets.  Two students, Rob Frame & Craig Thomas, set the world record for throwing a frisbee for 50 hours.  In 1977 Wintario came to the school auditorium.

1973-1974 - Jr. Girls Tankard Team (Broomball) South Ontario Champions.

1974-1975 - Jr. Girls Volleyball Halton Champions

1976 - Boys Basketball team were consolation winners.

1976-1977 - The Midget Boys Basketball team won Halton & Peel-Halton Championships.

1978 - 1979 - The Jr. Boys Basketball team won Halton & Peel-Halton Championships.

Valedictorians included:  Wanda Guay, Donald Fay, Robert Collins, Liz Richardson, George Hood, Michael Kendrick, Michael Rigo, Brian Whiffin, John Loeprich, Garth Essery.

Miss MDHS recipients Betty Hamilton, Susan Arbic, Marjorie Geist, Sue Sheridan & Cathy Chuchmach.

Mr. MDHS recipients Bruce Laing, George Green, Fred Bell, Paul McCann, Mark Langridge.
