New Decade Memories

 2000 - 2010

The new decade saw Mustang Athletics continue their winning ways in skating, hockey, swimming & cheerleading.

2000-2001 Gold Medal in Sr. Ladies Free Skate was awarded to Tiffany Richmond

2001-2002 The Boys Hockey Team was Canadian Cup Silver Medalists; and the Swim Team was Halton Gold Medalists

2002  The Cheerleading Team won the Provincial Championship

In 2004, MD travelled to Camp Wanakita with all of the Grade 10s for some experiential learning for the inaugural Wilderness North trip.  Students gained team building, problem solving and interpersonal skills while participating in outdoor activities including canoeing, kayaking, camp craft skills, and hiking.  This trip became an annual event from 2004 until 2019.

In September 2007 a group of MD Alumni organized a gala All Years Reunion held September 7 to 9.  

In 2008, Principal Ian Jones started the Tolerance - One School.  One Voice.  One World. initiative to raise awareness about the Holocaust.  Many school-wide events were held over the next four years.

MD also stared a yearly educational conference called Faces of Faith where students and staff could learn about other  cultures and religions.

Valedictorians included Alex Douglas, Jeff Warner (now a Program Leader of Science at Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School in Burlington); Jeff Anthony, Taylor Coulombe, Sean Magee, Brent Emigh, Eric Bortlis, and Jill Martin.
